Would you give a................

Baby girl to this family?? That is going to be the question once this picture arrives in El Salvador!! As some of you blog frequenters know, we have decided to adopt a girl from ES. We have prayed about this decision since December and finally decided to take the leap of faith in July. We officially signed with an agency on July 27th and this Thursday I plan to have all the paper work done and sent to our agency for translation. We are so excited about adding a little pink into our lives!! Please keep us in your prayers as this is going to be a long (about 2 years :( ) process and will surely test our faith and patience!!
One of my dear friends has given me a passage that I have decided to adopt as my own for this experience as I feel it is very fitting:

"But hope that is seen is no hope at all. Who hopes for what he already has? But if we hope for what we do not yet have, we wait for it patiently." Romans 8:24-25

Here's to the beginning of a long journey!!!

Green Bananas

Cade continues his run with all green bananas. ( Reminder: bananas are his discipline thing at school, green is awesome, yellow is okay, and red is bad). Today he was chosen as the most well behaved and got to bring home the class mascot. Originally, it's name is "Zebra". I'm sure it took the class a long time to come up with that one......................
He was so proud that he got to bring it home. It's in his bed sleeping with him right now. I seriously thought about spraying it down with lysol because I'm unsure of where it's been. Not many of you will appreciate my thinking but I know at least one person will. You know who you are, Chris. :)

FREEDOM!!!!!!!

Today Grant and Rhett started Mom's Day Out. I was so excited to drop them off and head to the mall area for a haircut and some "me" time!! They were both really excited to go also so that made it all the more fun. This is old hat for Grant as this is his 3rd year to attend.
He got a new backpack for school this year. He choose the "gecko" pack and was very enthusiastic about putting a bunch of nonsense in it this morning.

Rhett headed to school this morning with a few battle wounds to the face. Unfortunately his face and the sidewalk had a little rendevous at my mom's last night. He keeps putting his finger on his nose and saying "my bee-boo". I was impressed with him today because I accidentally gave him Grant's napmat that DID NOT contain his "boppy" (aka blanket he sleeps with every night) nor did I send his "faci" (that's a long "A" and refers lovingly to his pacifier which he also sleeps with each night). His teacher said, however, that he was the first to fall asleep in his class. Miracles do happen afterall!
From now on I'll be a free woman on Tues/Thurs. I will be doing some stuff at Cade's school along with some other things that are purely for my own personal sanity!!

Ahhh, brotherly love.......

Car conversation from yesterday, our 4th day to drop Cade off at school this week:

Grant: sssiiiiigggghhhhh.............

Me: What's wrong, buddy?

Grant: " My heart is weally cwying wight now."

Me: Why??

Grant: "Because we had to drop Cade off at kool again. It makes my heart weally cwy. It's still beeping...........but it's cwying."

I think he is having a tough time with all this school stuff!! He asks at least 3 times a day when pick up time is. When Cade gets in the car they hug so long that I have to break it up to get moving. This brotherly love lasts approximately 10 minutes then it is back to life as usual. I will choose to be thankful for the small strides in loving one another!! :)

First Day......EVER!!!!!

Well, it's official. Cade has started Kindergarten. He had his first full day yesterday and he really enjoyed it. He came home with a "green banana" which means that he was excellent all day. He informed me that a girl at his table lost all of her bananas and had to walk the fence at recess. Not good. He also learned to spell "red" and proceeded to sing a song about it (over and over) that nearly made me loose all of MY bananas by the time we got home! This is their commemorative t-shirt for the school since it is brand new and we are the first classes to attend there. Yes, that is a lizard with some sort of Elizabethan collar. Not sure what that is suppose to mean but just for the record, I did NOT vote for the lizard.............

In he goes to his first day. I followed with my camera. I'm not afraid to admit that I'm a paprazzi.......
His lovely teacher Ms. Ross. Somehow I feel weird that I am much older than her. What happened to the last 8 or so years of my life????
Hard at work at the desk. I'm sure he is pondering some sort of mathematical equation where square roots and a graphing calculator are needed.....................or he may just be wondering what color he is going to use. Overall, great day. I hope he's not disappointed when he finds out that he has approximately 17 more years of this to go.....................

Big Boy

We had some wonderful corn on the cob the other day and as usual I cut all the kernels off of Rhett's and just put them on his plate. You have never seen the likes of a child throwing such a fit. I kept asking him what the problem was and I could not understand a word he was saying. Finally he got up and pointed to the other ears of corn and said, "that one!" So I handed it to him and he went straight to town knawing on that cob.
I guess I underestimated his snaggle tooth on the bottom. Apparently it is more use than I thought! It's funny to see how quickly baby #3 tries to grow up. Can't he just stay little for my sake??????

Freaky..................

Saturday I went to Target to buy jars for the dino eggs. We put them in water and the boys anxiously awaited their hatching................ Cade keeps wondering, "if these are NOT real, then how are they going to hatch out of the eggs?" and then Grant with his hypothetical situation stories pipes in: " Well, what if they ARE weal and then a giant t-wex is wibbing in our house when we wake up and he stomps around breaking ebrything?? Then what would happen???"
Fortunately, I maintaining my stance that these, in fact, are NOT real.........just pretend. It doesn't really make it any less freaky for me though. When Sunday evening rolled around this is what we found. Grant's is just barely poking out and Cade's has almost a complete head.
Then today, out pops this from Grant's egg. Seriously, doesn't that give you the willies?

Cade's is almost squirming completely out of the egg. Every time the boys wake up they are running to check out the latest hatching.
Entertaining gift T & C. Nothing like bringing the ancient past straight into your kitchen!
