Adios, 2007!

What a great year it has been. I am amazed that another year has come and gone so quickly and I am looking forward to all of the things that are to come in 2008. I don't usually make any resolutions (that I actually keep anyway) but I did come up with just a couple this year. First, I am challenging myself to read the Bible all the way through this year. Our church put the challenge out there and I thought I would really like to try it. My second is to try REALLY hard to be more in tune with our finances. Bobby does it all (that IS is profession, you know) and I never even think about it. So, I'm not saying I want to take it over this year, only that I want to be more aware. This time next year I'll probably still be a financial moron, only on a lesser scale......yeah, a lesser scale moron. That's my goal. Thirdly, I am going to stop eating sweets, white bread, refined carbohydrates and any type of boxed cracker or cereal.................... Wait, I just decided to nix that one and just keep the first two. There is no use in just setting myself up for failure. Besides, that's basically my entire diet so I would then have to be on some type of feeding tube and that's just not that fashionable. You never see anyone in InStyle magazine wearing one of those. So, with my resolutions posted on a public forum, I am now looking forward to 2008 and all the things God has in store for us this year. I will be praying Proverbs 25:25 this year and waiting to hear my "good news from a distant land" !!

Santa Came!!

The Morgan crew had a great Christmas. Rhett was so happy to see that Santa actually brought him the horse he has been asking for for the past 2 months. I will never forget the chuckle that he let out when he saw it. It neighs and makes hoof noises when you rock on it. Too cute.
Grant's favorite present to my surprise was this Spiderman suit. He has been wearing it non-stop............sometimes in combination with the Darth Vader head that Cade got. Little freaky. Darthpiderman? Cade got just what he had asked for. Transformers and Star Wars stuff. He was a little under the weather for Christmas Day but it didn't stop him for long. Aunt Tracie and Uncle Chris brought their Wii with them and we played it for forever. Cade is currently the boxing champion in this household and stands undefeated. I'm pretty sure the game was messed up. I was knocking him all over the place and still couldn't win!!
Tracie helped us bake some Christmas cookies. Rhett was a big "helper" if that is what you want to call it. My biggest job was keeping him from eating the flour (???) I know you're asking why but I'm sorry, I don't have the answer to that. We all know flour is not the fun part to eat. He really enjoyed using the cookie cutters too.
Tracie and Chris got the boys a huge dinosaur coloring page and they also spent some time working on that. It was a day spent in their pajamas and eating nothing but junk. Seriously. By the end of the day I fed them Honey Nut Cheerios for dinner. Rhett had already eaten his own body weight in cookies and unfortunately so did I..............

We had a great time doing family Christmas with my fam on Sunday and Bobby's fam on Monday. Me, camera queen, who takes my camera everywhere, forgot it on both occasions. Those memories will just have to be forever stored in my mind. Also, in my mind this Christmas Day were thoughts of a woman, somewhere in El Salvador carrying my baby girl in her womb. Does she know of the savior that was born this day for her? I pray she does and I also am praying that she feels the comfort and peace that that same savior will provide her as she prepares to give me one of the greatest earthly gifts I will ever receive. Next year my hope is that I will have a face to place on the little girl that runs through my mind when I'm idle. And until then I will not be anxious, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, I will present my requests to God. Then, His peace, which is greater than anything I can understand will guard my heart and my mind in Him. Phillipians 4:7 tells me just that. Somebody snitched on me............

Thanks to my friend, Heather, (then later the Today Show), I learned of a fun new tradition to start for Christmas with the boys. It's called "Elf on the Shelf" and the premise is that you get an elf delivered to your home that perches in various places to watch the boys to make sure they behave. He stays all day and then at night he reports back to Santa all that he's seen and heard. When they wake in the morning he is always in a different spot. This is where they found him this morning. They are loving this and have even spent the energy to run and find him to dish out dirt on each other. So much for brotherly love!!
Cade and Grant chose his name, "Alfie". Who knows where he'll be in the morning! I love this little idea. I often wonder why I couldn't have been the one to think up these things.

Well, I did it...

I've been trying really hard not to think about the fact that we are in the VERY LONG process of adopting. I thought it would do me no good to sit around and dwell on it's lengthiness and having little "girly" things around would only make it a harder wait. Well, a dear friend told me about these little Madame Alexander dolls. They make one of a little Salvadoran girl. I have been trying really hard not to buy her but today I accidentally fell into Tuesday Morning (the store) and when I left, this little gal was riding in the passenger seat. Hopefully baby girl will love her one day and until then, I'll let little doll slumber in the back of my closet with the precious little dress that is also waiting to be filled up and loved by a little brown headed Morgan girl.................

Our First Award

Cade was presented the award for performance in the area of "academic effort" for this past 9 weeks in school. He was so excited to hear his name called. I am so proud of him for giving his best effort and trying so hard in school. I know he is worn out when he gets home! Kindergarten isn't what it used to be that's for sure! Great job, Cade!!

Should I be concerned??????????

My eldest child has taken a sudden interest in this book. I'm afraid he's learning how to tie me up and hoist me out to the tree house he's learned to erect by hand, all the while using morse code to contact pirates to sell me to....................... Let this information be used in court should I turn up missing anytime before Christmas.

Chefs in a Christmas Musical??????

Now you've seen it all! Four chefs instead of the 3 wisemen. Our preschool choir at church had it's Christmas program but it was really more of a Thanksgiving theme. Cade was proud to be nominated as a Chef making a "thank you meal" and sang a song by the same name as a quartet. Also, now that I mention it, the quartet was also 3/4 the same name: Cade, Cade, Cade, and Kodey. I know. Who'dathunkit?? Grant did surprisingly well. He was very excited and sang all of his songs. He did lean down several times and ask me if it was almost over. His attention span was waning but he hung in there for the piece of chocolate I had promised him.
This is Cade's stage debut. I was very proud of the way he sang. I'm sure this is the very same way Justin Timberlake started out....................

Christgiving Extravaganza

We had the whole kit and kaboodle at our house to celebrate the holidays. Over the years our family has really multiplied! Present this time were 13 kids. The oldest are both 7 ( I think). Talk about a mad house!! We managed to snap a photo of the crew. Believe it or not, the house was still standing when everyone left. The craziest part is that there are for sure 3 more kids being added to the group. Look out Christgiving 2009 (I'm hoping :) cross your fingers that there will be another little brown skinned, brown eyed girl sitting on that couch that year!!)
