Nothin' like a FREE haircut..........

Grant took it upon himself to trim his own bangs today because he "was tired of them getting in his eyes all the time". I found him hiding in his closet after the deed had been done. I'll have to give him his props; he did manage to clean up the hair and throw it in the trash. With some creative combing it's not as bad as it could have been. Lesson learned: find a better hiding spot for the scissors.............

"Will there be jump houses there???"

No, son. Not at an 80 year old birthday party. The last thing we need is a broken hip. This weekend we traveled to Kentucky to celebrate my Papaw's birthday. We got to visit with a lot of family that we haven't seen in double-digit years. For the boys, I must say it was a little disappointing because when you say "party" they think balloons, party favors, so much fun you can't stand it, and yes, jumphouses.

Papaw got a lot of help blowing out the candles from his great-grandsons.

This is dad with his dad, my papaw.
Me and my lovely sister with the birthday boy.
Here is actually what goes on at an 80 year old birthday party............ the chugging of kool-aid koolers. And well, Cornhole..........but for everyone's sake I'm not posting pictures. :) ( You can thank me for that later, Chris.)
Rhett made a new buddy with his cousing Broady who is one month older than he is. It was nice to have someone his own size to play with.I always have a great time chatting and catching up with my sister. We had some good laughs and the boys cherish the time they spend with her. Hotel night #2 for Tracie and Chris included two little extras squeezed into their bed. The boys thought it was the greatest thing ever. (So did Bobby and I!) Finally, the elusive Chris gets a pic on the blog. I picked the good one so as not to disappoint!Grant, out by the barn. This is before his nice shirt got filthy. I knew it was going to happen but still wanted him to be presentable for at least the first 30 minutes. Well, check this one off the list. We traveled the long haul, partied hard, stayed up late, ate off of our schedule and are still living to blog about it!!

How many trees do you need to kill for............

A COMPLETED DOSSIER??????? Approximately eight thousand it seems!! Today my mom kept the boys while I ran around notarizing, certifying, and apostilling all of our documents. It is a huge stack of paper once you are done. I have everything ready to go with the exception of a couple photos I need to redo.
Just for kicks I measured it. I had guessed it was close to an inch of paper and I was right on!
I plan to put this puppy in the mail tomorrow and let someone else deal with it for a while. I started collecting this stuff on July 27 and today, September 19 is my official done day. What a relief!

Fundraisers.........

This is a head's up to all of you that will be receiving pleas in the mail to please buy a magazine. We are in the 4th (I think) week of school and we are already starting on our second fundraiser!@#@#@ I know you are saying to yourself "what does this picture have to do with this post??" Well, this is how they bribe the children in doing this sweat shop work. You turn in 7 addresses and you walk away with straw/glasses.........entertaining in all households I'm sure. It was funny at first, then quickly turned annoying when all the juice was spilled in the floor. I'm washing the glassses right now.....................I REALLY hope the dishwasher doesn't accidentally ruin them :)

Would you give a................

Baby girl to this family?? That is going to be the question once this picture arrives in El Salvador!! As some of you blog frequenters know, we have decided to adopt a girl from ES. We have prayed about this decision since December and finally decided to take the leap of faith in July. We officially signed with an agency on July 27th and this Thursday I plan to have all the paper work done and sent to our agency for translation. We are so excited about adding a little pink into our lives!! Please keep us in your prayers as this is going to be a long (about 2 years :( ) process and will surely test our faith and patience!!
One of my dear friends has given me a passage that I have decided to adopt as my own for this experience as I feel it is very fitting:

"But hope that is seen is no hope at all. Who hopes for what he already has? But if we hope for what we do not yet have, we wait for it patiently." Romans 8:24-25

Here's to the beginning of a long journey!!!

Green Bananas

Cade continues his run with all green bananas. ( Reminder: bananas are his discipline thing at school, green is awesome, yellow is okay, and red is bad). Today he was chosen as the most well behaved and got to bring home the class mascot. Originally, it's name is "Zebra". I'm sure it took the class a long time to come up with that one......................
He was so proud that he got to bring it home. It's in his bed sleeping with him right now. I seriously thought about spraying it down with lysol because I'm unsure of where it's been. Not many of you will appreciate my thinking but I know at least one person will. You know who you are, Chris. :)

FREEDOM!!!!!!!

Today Grant and Rhett started Mom's Day Out. I was so excited to drop them off and head to the mall area for a haircut and some "me" time!! They were both really excited to go also so that made it all the more fun. This is old hat for Grant as this is his 3rd year to attend.
He got a new backpack for school this year. He choose the "gecko" pack and was very enthusiastic about putting a bunch of nonsense in it this morning.

Rhett headed to school this morning with a few battle wounds to the face. Unfortunately his face and the sidewalk had a little rendevous at my mom's last night. He keeps putting his finger on his nose and saying "my bee-boo". I was impressed with him today because I accidentally gave him Grant's napmat that DID NOT contain his "boppy" (aka blanket he sleeps with every night) nor did I send his "faci" (that's a long "A" and refers lovingly to his pacifier which he also sleeps with each night). His teacher said, however, that he was the first to fall asleep in his class. Miracles do happen afterall!
From now on I'll be a free woman on Tues/Thurs. I will be doing some stuff at Cade's school along with some other things that are purely for my own personal sanity!!
