Welcome to Turner Field!

This past week Bobby and I drove to Atlanta to take in a few baseball games at Turner Field. The Braves were playing the Florida Marlins. We were among VERY few Marlins fans. Chris went with us to all the games but, as usual, has not made it into any pics. Thanks Chris for using your "smart phone" to catch some images!
We have a good buddy that plays second base for the Marlins. It was nice to get to see him and chat a little. We also caught up with some other fellow "Columbians" and his wife and son. The road trip was a lot of fun but I must admit after sitting through 3 games I was pretty baseballed out. Not to mention that the third game was in the blazing sun. Thank heaven for sunscreen! Tune in later this week for some pics from swim lessons. Grant keeps trying to convince me that he doesn't need to go to swim lessons because quote, " I don't even know how to swim!". Someone is missing the point..................

It's the weekend!!!

"Daycation" to Destin!

Our family went to Destin this year for "Daycation" as the boy's call it. The word has evolved from just plain "cation" this year. We rented a home right across from the beach called " Vita La Bella" and it was beautiful. I said I would like to see the owner's real house because their beach house was amazing. There was a vacant lot you can see behind us and that allowed us full view of the ocean.
We vacationed with mom and dad and Tracie and Chris. Somehow Chris managed to avoid all pictures taken while we were on the trip and so he is not going to make it on the blog this time. Chris, I guess I could cut and paste you out of the other blog pic you have. I know you would appreciate that!! Rhett was unsure about the beach. He didn't know whether to laugh or cry when the water would come up over his feet. We are standing at the pool at our house in this pic. He wasn't crazy about the pool either until about Friday. He had some weird issue with his trunks being wet.

Dad played a lot with the boys on the beach. They tried to make a sandcastle. Mostly they waded out into the ocean. The first few days the water was so calm Cade could go out to where it was above his shoulders. Later in the week the waves were pretty rough.
I couldn't believe I actually got the boys to pose for a decent pic. This was after a bribe of getting to go to the candy store if they cooperated. These last two are a couple of my favorites. Rhett looks a bit saggy in the bottom but that is usually true to life anyway........

I wanted to capture these tiny feet before they get too big. Time has been flying and I don't want to forget anything!! I was not ready for vacation to end. I could have taken another 3 or 4 days. Lots of great weather.....low to mid 80's, light breeze, low humidity and not a cloud in the sky. I couldn't have asked for anything more. Can't wait until next year!!

Mom's Day!

Apparently we had a flower pot theme for Mother's Day this year and we didn't even know it. The boys had spent the day at my mom's on Saturday and little did I know that they were building (yes, building.......with a nail gun and some help from the granpa), flower pots for me. They even painted them. I thought it was such a cute idea. My dad thinks that this is the best that the flowers are ever going to look and we should all enjoy them while we can. I don't know WHAT he could've been talking about.I could practically run a greenhouse.................... I made my mom and Bobby's mom a potted plant also. I didn't actually MAKE the pots but I planted the flowers and that should count for something. Big thanks to my mom who is the most self-less person I know. She helps me more than I can even say and has been a wonderful example of a mother my entire life. I can only hope that one day my children feel about me the way that I feel about her.

I also need to give a shout out to my mother-in-law who has given me a wonderful husband. She has been a great Christian example to him and has raised him to be thoughtful, caring, and deep with morals and values. Thanks for rearing him to be a wonderful husband and father!

Birthday Boy!

We celebrated Cade's 5th birthday with an "army man" theme. He is really into that these days. We started out at the park but the weather was not cooperating with the festivities. We were there for the pizza eating and song singing but had to make a mad dash for the house to eat any cake. Many thanks to all the flexible party-goers that hung in there until the end. Cade had a great time playing with his buddies. Apparently so did Bobby................... I was doing a slide show of all my pictures and found quite a few with Bobby at the bottom of a pile of boys. Bobby's sister had my camera so she must have captured the tackle. I should have gotten him one of the army man helmets.
Cade's actual birthday isn't for a couple weeks but this was the best time to have a friend get together. He's already counting down the days until his next party!

" This was the funnest day ever!"

A quote from Cade once we got home. Thanks to Nana for reminding us that the little trains were going to be at the Maury County Park this weekend. I took the boys there on Friday thinking that the crowd would be lighter. I was sadly mistaken. We pulled in to the parking lot alongside about 7 or so school buses full of elementary kids taking a field trip. Luckily we found things to keep ourselves entertained and not sad about waiting in long lines. Cade got himself a cotton candy to eat during the wait. I mouthed to the man, "Make this a SMALL one" and pointed to Cade without him knowing. If this was his idea of small I would hate to see the big one.........

Rhett got to sit on the floor of the car so he didn't fall out. I sat behind him. Cade was the first person behind the engineer. He thought that was pretty cool.

Grant and mom (thanks to mom for being a sport and helping me round everyone up!) made the caboose.
The boys couldn't decide what was better. Getting to ride the trains or seeing an army helicopter make it's landing. We were just walking around killing time and this copter was circling. Mom noticed that it had landed and we took off running to see it closer.

The very nice pilot let the boys get in and look around. Grant wore him out with questions. Cade was too star struck to speak. Rhett wouldn't even let me put him in there. Scaredy cat.....

They had a "zookeeper" walking around trying to find his lost rhino. I saw the rhino hiding behind a tree. It looked about as crazy as this zookeeper. He was joking with Grant and pretended to put his net over his head.
That was when Rhett decided he could no longer pretend that he wasn't totally freaked out. He bawled his eyes out and made the zookeeper run away.
The boys had a great time and we left the park just before it started to rain. Next year I will try not to schedule a fun day at the park on the same day that most of Tennessee's schools are fieldtripping though!

A little clarification......

I know in the last post the picture makes it appear that Rhett has his mouth on the bat. Not so. Just a bad camera angle. Just wanted to clarify that for those of you that were completely grossed out. No pictures today because we haven't done anything picture worthy this week. This weekend is going to be full of soccer and starting next week Cade and Grant both start t-ball. That should be interesting as usual. Cade had his first practice last night and really enjoyed it. Grant's practice starts next week. I'm just hoping we bring home that prized state trophy this year....................until next time.
