Birthday Bash!

I cannot even believe that today we celebrated Rhett's second birthday!! Where has the time gone? He specifically requested a "Backyardigans" party and so that's what he got. For those of you with no kids or knowledge of the Backyardigans, meet Tyrone and Pablo. They are the two that made it on his cake. Great job by the cake lady. It was fantastic! Aunt Tracie had to miss the festivities this year due to a hippopotamus at her work that couldn't cover his shift today. Luckily for the doctor she works for, the Lion came through.............again.

Rhett had a big time playing with his friends. Luckily we had pretty good weather. The sun came out just about the time the party was starting and warmed up things just a bit. We had the Morgan jumphouse that rears it's head at every Morgan party of any kind and the kids, as usual, had a good time in that also. Time to blow out the candles and I am really "willing" Rhett to blow them out ( I look so concerned, so serious....). It was me, however, that in the end blew them out. He just didn't pack enough air to touch them.

He was totally in to eating his cake and ice cream. Long after everyone else had finished and was back to playing he was still sitting and eating. He won the clean plate award. Unfortunately it wasn't anything healthy. Maybe next time. Grant and Cade didn't miss out on the fun of cake and ice cream either. They both had their fair share. When it came to present opening time they COMPLETELY forgot whose birthday it was.....taking presents right out of Rhett's hand and screaming "YESSS!!! WOW!!!!" and what do you think is allowing me to post right in the middle of the afternoon? It's not naptime...........it's all the new things to play with! With exception of the occasional not-sharing fight I really like getting a few new toys myself. It opens up a new door of freedom for the mom..................if only it would last more than just today...................

Next Birthday: Bobby. I wonder if he'll get a bunch of new toys??

Just waiting patiently...............

On a little girl to fill this dress! While we were on vacation Bobby's sister talked his mom into taking her sewing machine to make a dress for Amelia. She was kind enough to make one for little girl Morgan as well. She would have had this puppy done in no time at all if it weren't for a snafoo with the ruffle at the bottom. After about 12 hours sitting at the sewing machine Bobby told her she should hang up her nursing license and work in a sweat shop! She ended up taking it home to get it completed and brought over the finished product tonight. I think it is so cute and I can't wait to see it on a little girl running around this house! Let's see...................only about 2 years left to wait :( . I'll make sure to hang it in the back of the closet so it doesn't haunt me every single day.

I did hear from our adoption facilitator and she talked with our attorney in ES who said that our dossier made it safely and is currently being translated. After that they will officially submit it. I think the time frame on the translation is about 2 weeks or so. Little tiny baby steps...........we'll get there one day!

FIELD TRIP!!!!

Cade's class went on their first field trip to the Pumpkin Patch at Ring Farm this past Friday. He was soooooooo excited about going. He was most excited about riding on the "real" school bus for the first time. "Mommy, I've NEVER rided on a real school bus before!" I wish things like that still brought me that much joy! We went on a little hayride and they had spooky things like ghosts and tombstones and stuff all along the trail. The kids loved it.
Everyone got to pick out a pumpkin to bring home. Cade searched and searched for his and then ended up dropping it and breaking off the stem. That was just unacceptable so he had to quickly run and find another one. I'm not sure this one quite met up with his expectations as the first one had but it serves the same purpose just as well.
He had one quick run in with his buddy Cade. Unfortunately, he's in another class so they were separated the entire field trip.

This is one group photo of Cade's class on the playground at the farm. As you can see, everyone was blinded by the sun but it was a beautiful day for the trip. The weather the night before had me concerned that there wouldn't be a trip at all. Here's to one field trip down and all seven of the kids I was responsible making it home to their parents! ( or at least making it to the bus. I relinquished my responsibilities at that point!! )

Who's idea was this??

For my mom's 55 th birthday she wanted to skydive. Crazy, I know. Especially if you know my mom. My sister agreed to do it with her so they met in Montgomery to do it. Well, due to cloudy skies their jump was postponed. My sister, however, decided to go it alone the next day. Here are a couple shots of her jumping out at 14,000 feet!!!!! What a cool shot the camera guy got!
She said it was a ton of fun and they did all kinds of spins and flips on the way down. I would love to do this one day myself but for now it kind of makes me want to toss my cookies if you know what I mean.
My mom had to take a rain check for her jump. The plan is that they will meet again this Sunday afternoon and do it again together. I can't wait to see the video of my mom jumping. Wait to go, Trac!

#1 Cat's Fan

My sister, in one of her prouder moments, got to meet Kentucky basketball's newest head coach Billy Gillispie at the Big Blue Madness last weekend. Tracie and her husband Chris both went to UK for some of their college career and are both still HUGE fans. I have a lot of "blue blood" running through my family. I attest to be a fan by default. I WAS born there, you know. All I have to say is Coach Billy better bring some good stuff to the table because if the Cat's don't win we could be staring at a picture of his biggest stalker..............

Scarecrow Day!!

The Kindergarten class at Cade's school had Scarecrow Day today. I got to go and take pictures for his teacher. All the kids were really cute dressed up. They had a really good time.
Cade was pumped to go to school dressed up. By the time I got there at 9:30 he had already lost some of his scarecrow rope around his ankles and wrists. I love being able to be at his school for things like this. Tomorrow we have a field trip to the pumpkin patch. I'm hoping I don't lose anyone's kids. That would be nightmare..................... Happy Fall from Scarecrow man!

Crazy Kids........

This is just a snapshot (literally) of what our trip was like. If you can imagine all this energy being released simultaneously starting at around 5:50 each morning and pausing only for a short nap each day you'll understand just a bit. We ate dinner at a little italian place in Baytowne Wharf. Outside of the restaurant was a little music and it had all the kids dancing around.
I got everyone up on the big chair. It looks like we'll still have room for one very small little person( little girl that is :) )to fit in there!! Due to the "red tide", we decided to head out to the go-carts and have a little fun. It was my kid's first time to ride. I can't help from hearing "get your motor runnin', head out on the highway. Lookin' for adventure...and whatever comes my way" when I see Grant in this picture. He thinks he is soooooooo "bad"! Seriously! Look at his face!!!!
Cade was tearing up the track. He's followed by Isaac who seemed to be a very cautious driver. Cade's had a lot of driving practice with his jeep so I think he felt like he was in his element.

Grant and Amelia really buddied up on this trip. I took a snap of them outside the ice cream shop and thought it really turned out cute.
