He has been practicing the basics of the game such as the "hey, girl. Check out my mane when I jump and spin" move among other things.
He got a great little hit his first at bat. You can't really tell in the picture but he insisted on wearing batting gloves that were at least 2 sizes too big. It kind of reminds me of the time that I convinced my mother that I had to have a purple elastic knee stablilizer to play on the middle school basketball team. I had not suffered any type of knee injury but I had noticed that an 8th grade starter had one and was pretty sure it was my ticket to coolness. She fell for it and I wore it. Wore it well, too.
Still smiling as he rounded the bases.

So happy to be on second. He had made a comment to Cade about hoping that his team won tonight and Cade tried to explain that it wasn't about winning but learning (such an adult concept for my eldest to be conveying), but Grant was all "What's the point of playing if you don't win??? It's all about winning!!!! I haven't told him that we never even keep score. I don't want to crush his will to be a winner.
I have a feeling I'll be spending a lot of time at the ball fields with this character.

We had a time getting the candles to stay lit with the breeze that was going but Bobby managed to keep at least one lit long enough for Cade to make a wish. I'm not sure why I thought I needed to provide blowing assistance here at the sixth birthday party. I must have reverted back to 5 years earlier when he couldn't fend for himself. Stop making fun and just let me be in the moment...........
Happy Birthday, Cade! Hope your day was fabulous!
