Take me out to the ballgame...........

Bobby and I were very lucky to get to have a little getaway to Chicago this past weekend. This will be our third year in a row to go but our first visit to Wrigley Field. It was a good time. We had a bit of trouble getting tickets but after passing up many shady deals outside of the field, we ended up getting some from a ticket broker after the game started. There really weren't any bad seats. I was so surprised at how small the stadium was. I could've spit on a player (not that I would) from almost any seat.
I was most impressed with the scoreboard because there was really someone inside putting up the numbers!
You can see the crowd was sold out. There are people sitting on top of buildings outside of the field to watch the game. Basically all the people that are high up in the picture are not even in the stadium. We had a great time. Our friends, Brad and Ashley, went this year also. We stayed at the Park Hyatt right off of Michigan Ave so I DID get my shoppin' groove on. It was a bit chilly at times and the wind was pretty fierce but nothing to complain about. I hope we get to go again next year. I'm going to have to start building up my shopping pot again next month so I'll be prepared!

You just never know.........

After searching around the house on Wednesday, I finally found Rhett in the pantry. I just think it is hilarious because with him you really just never know where you'll find him. The door was shut, the light on, and all the cereal boxes were out and opened. No telling how long he had been there.
"Hmmmmmmm. This one looks pretty good." I'm going to have to add this one to his "where's waldo" page in his scrapbook. (If I ever get to that page in his scrapbook that is!)

Boom's Day Extravaganza Jubilee

This is the most patriotic picture I could get of the boys. I am not sure what is going on with Grant's hair........ We had some friends over for dinner and then more friends came for the festivities. Bobby turns into a 12 year old anytime fireworks are being sold. He bought several for the finale but I didn't get any on film.

Rhett got to semi-hold his first sparkler this year. He was loving 4th of July. He hung with all the big kids and even stayed up until 9:45 before his meltdown! All the kids stood on the road and watched some of the street fireworks.

"Wow. Cool." were some of the words that Rhett was using that night. I'm sure he learned those from his brothers. We had a great time with everyone. Until next year!!

Buddy Mugs

We have spent some time at the t-ball field lately and I just caught a couple snapshots of Cade and Grant and their buddies. Above is Grant and one of his best buds Cavin (Cabin in Grant's words).
Cade and Cade.............yes, I know. His mother and I both thought we were going to be original. They always call each other by their first and last name. These are some fierce t-ballin' boys. You can see the top of the ears on their uniforms............The team name? MiniMules...............dear me. I obviously wasn't on the team name committee. I am, however, grateful for a sponser.

Famous Last Words...........

"Rhett, DO NOT get in the mud..........." I go inside for ONE minute and Bobby calls me from his cell phone (no comment) to let me know that MY son (he's taking no claim) has gone straight for the mud. This is what a little rain does for the nice area left over from the infamous dirt we had. I now need crime scene tape to rope it off until we can plant some grass. Oh well, boys will be boys......

"'Wait a minute............how'd that get there?" I have been lax about posting because our days have been less than interesting lately. We are currently doing VBS at church and the boys are having a good time. We are all going to be exhausted at the end of the week. Cade is dying to get back to the pool. We haven't been able to go this week because VBS takes up our usual block of swim time and then we have had afternoon thunderstorms the last two days. Thank goodness for a little rain though!

Let's Hit the Pool!

The big boys took swim lessons this week. It was Cade's third year to go and Grant's first. As I stated earlier, Grant's philosophy was "I don't even need to go to 'fwim' lessons. I don't even know how to 'fwim' ". Well, he went and he actually enjoyed it. The first day he was a little hesitant but after that he just ran right down there with Cade. Cade practiced his "pencil" jump,
learned how to dive, and tread water. By the end of the week he was doing flips under water and really swimming great.
Grant came out of his shell. Last Sunday when we went to the pool he would not even jump into the water with Bobby a foot away to catch him. He was forced to change his mind this week!
This is Grant doing a little underwater "fwimming". He was so proud of himself!
The people that coached him said he was the happiest kid they had ever seen. One said, "he could sink all the way to the bottom and when you pulled him up he would just be smiling from ear to ear!". That's my boy.......the happy drowning victim. At least he'd go with a smile.............................. I was seriously impressed, as usual, after leaving there. I can't wait until Rhett can go. He won't be old enough again next year but after that he's getting in on the action. In the meantime we'll get aquainted with the water in our neighborhood pool. I'm already longing for the days that I can go and actually relax at the pool and not play lifeguard (literally) to a brood of preschoolers!

The Most Beautiful Sight..............

A loader, picking up all of the dirt........... A dumptruck, hauling it away!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
What a wonderful noise to wake up to this morning. We are chalking this up to a lesson learned..........a very expensive lesson nontheless!
