What's He Do All Day?

Cade has been a busy bee with his new favorite thing: the Star Wars Lego set. He got a few for his birthday and I have picked up a couple others for special occassions. He is forever building, building, building..........then screaming, screaming, screaming when little brothers get in his business and mess up all his hard work.
I love all of the quiet time these little things have provided me with.
What I don't like is when I find one embedded in the bottom of my foot, or the clink, clink as I suck them up with the vaccum, or when I slide sleepily into the bed at night only to find my legs being mauled by stray pieces, or when I dig one out of Rhett's mouth, or when I have to pick them up for the thousandth time out of the kitchen floor, or when...........well, that's probably enough of that. I do complain a little, but he really loves them. So, for now, so will I.

'Sup, Dawg

While at a kid-friendly Spring Hill eatery tonight Grant so wisely spent his quarters for an extension into his wardrobe. He was so proud when he came running over flashing his new chain and bling. I didn't have the heart to tell him that, usually, accessories of this nature are reserved for gansters or rap artists. His innocence just tickled me. I had to put aside my pride and let him run around the ball fields wearing the silly thing. All of his unsuspecting buddies thought it was the coolest thing ever. He even brandished it after bathtime tonight.......and without my prompting added another morsel to the picture..........
Yes, that would be his glock in the right hand. I never knew that watching BET during t.v. time would have such an impact.
(For those of you gasping: We really don't watch BET....with the kids, anyway :)

Mini Me

Mini Me and his dad had team pictures so I took a few shots of my own. I had taken my camera to the last game and it almost started to rain. People scattered everywhere and the next thing you know the opposing team was MIA ("missing in action" for those of you who have never been in the military). So, not much action to photo. I got plenty of action this go around, though. Just to reaffirm that everyone is correct when they say "Well! He looks just like his daddy!", I've posted this piece of supporting evidence. Cade really had a good game. He had a couple nice hits off the tee and fielded several balls.

Here he is standing on second waiting to run the bases again. Yes, he has gum in his mouth. My kids like gum. I'm aware. I guess I've passed my long running addiction on to them. Couple throws back to the coach. I just kind of liked this picture. By the way.......Has anyone seen Rhett?? I've been too busy taking pictures to keep up with him.......
Oh, good. There he is. At least he's safe. That's all that matters...................

geesh. Let's just start our countdown to the ER with this one.

It COULD be. Maybe??

As many of you frequent Bible readers may know, there is a passage in 2nd Corinthians 12, verses 7-9 where Paul is talking to the church about what God has done to him. Here is what he says: ..........I was given a thorn in my flesh, a messenger from Satan to torment me and keep me from becoming proud. Three different times I begged the Lord to take it away. Each time he said, "My grace is all you need. My power works best in weakness." It goes on this subject a bit further and I've often wondered, "what is this THORN that Paul is speaking of? No one really seems to know. I'm pretty sure, however, that I have just figured it out. I'm almost positive that Paul must have been.............

Potty training.
I mean, I can't be certain, obviously, because I've never actually spoken to him. But already this week I'm feeling a very apparent thorn in my own side. And believe me, I'm pleading the Lord to take it away. Please God, it's not the child you need to take back, just the urine in the floor. And sorry to the customers at Logan's that are lucky enough to sit in the first booth. All I'm sayin' is if you drop your french fry on the seat you probably won't want to use the 3 second rule. Just sayin'..................

"You didn't HAVE to."

Sometimes children don't appreciate all the nice things that a mother does. I mean, I've had this outfit for some time being that it's a hand-me-down. I have always taken good care of it and have washed it according to the tag. I packed it up nicely to ensure that it would continue to be wearable through the years. I ironed it and I handpicked it for Rhett to wear to church this morning. So why all the grief? All was good with the feet slipping through the little leg holes........not a word. Pulled it up.......not a word. Started fastening the buckles.......HYSTERIA. "I do NOT want to wear this. Take it OFF!! I don't want to be a farmer!!" I bribed him with a piece of gum but that only calmed him momentarily. I took him into the bathroom, put him on the stool to brush his teeth and that is when he looked at himself in the mirror and stated, and I quote, "I look like a stupid, baby farmer." I nearly lost it but kept my serious face long enough to reprimand him for using the cuss word "stupid". He's picked it up somewhere because he also used it this week at my parent's church when they tried to drop him off at the church's childcare, "This is stupid. There's nothing but babies in there" with arms crossed across his chest. I'm telling you. He is convinced that he is at least five years old. Anyway, I finally got him into the car with a piece of gum and off to church. As I was carrying him to his class he grabbed my face with both his hands and said, "You know? You didn't HAVE to dress me like a farmer today............" What gives?! Can't we just be happy we were wearing clothes at all?????
