Ahh. And Alas, They Return.

Cade's glasses have returned from a 2 week hiatus. I'm unsure of why they chose to run off like they did. I thought they were perfectly happy helping him to see each day. From the way he explained it, they practically jumped off his face and took off which was no fault of his own. The way I understood it (using my mother ears) was that he was tired of them and laid them down in a very unreasonable place.......the hallway. Was there not a better alternative? Say, the desk, or the counter, your backpack? Here's a new one---your face??? Luckily, a nice teacher from Cade's school noticed the dirt laden glasses frolicking in the grassy knoll by the teacher's parking lot and was ever so gracious to return them to us, undamaged if you can believe it. This is his rendition of my reaction. But give me some credit. Here is just a little background. Cade was introduced to glasses in February of 2007. The pair you see in his hand is his 5th pair and it's only February 2008. That is one pair of glasses every 2.4 months for those of you trying to do the math. Now, insurance does pay.........for the first pair. And the nice place we bought them from does a half price deal for the second, even the third pair. But by the fourth pair they looked at me with disdain and I'm sure proceeded to gossip about me when I walked out of the store.

I'm now taking a close up shot of the glasses so that, in the future, I will be able to make "Wanted" posters when they decide to go AWOL on me.

No, Department of Children's Services...

We do not need you to pay us a visit. Given the many comments we received yesterday regarding Rhett's unfortunate eye issues, I felt it necessary to post a rebuttle. This swollen, bruised, scabby (is that a word?) eye is the result of a mishap between Rhett and his gramma's picnic table. It actually doesn't look so bad in the picture because you can't see the bluish hue so well. I knew there was idle chat going on at church when our preacher approached us before the service to question our parenting. I did reply, in my best country hick accent, "Ain't that what the Bible says to do when yer kids ain't mindin' ?" Rhett is recovering well though. Next time he picks a fight with someone or someTHING he needs to choose more wisely.

Bonfires and Amplifiers

Bobby and I celebrated our Valentine's Day by going out to dinner and then to the Brad Paisley concert. We were both very impressed at his guitar playing abilities. It was amazing! He definately put on a great show. We'd love to go again some day. The crowd was mostly tame with the exception of the obese lady at the end of our row wearing the fake eyelashes. Unfortunately for her, the Metro PD escorted her out before BP ever even took the stage. I guess that's what happens when you down 6 beers that are a foot tall each back to back. Here's Brad for those of you who are not up on your country music Entertainer of the Year kind of people.

Rodney Atkins (whom I had heard of but couldn't place) opened up for BP. He had a lot of songs that Bobby and I both recognized and could sing along to. He did a fantastic job as well. The best part was when his kindergarten age son came running out on the stage at the end. Since I've had kids it doesn't take much for me to get a lump in the ol' throat.
This is a picture from our seats. We weren't far away at all..........but I had my puny camera. Not my normal good picture taking reliable camera that actually snaps a picture when you tell it to. It was at this point that I told Bobby " If I were Brad, I would have to forgo the hand slapping. I mean, he's totally going to get the flu........." That's just me folks. A pretty much normal kind of girl with some apparent germaphobia. Besides, I'm sure each time the lights went down for him to change guitars he was also using Purex to sanitize his hands..............

Love Day

Thank you, Tracie and Chris for sending this for the boys for ValentiMes Day. I went out and diligently ran a couple miles and then walked right in and downed one of these. I'm sure they are fat free, high protein and have minimal calories. Besides, I'm sure the run and the cookie cancelled each other out and I am breaking even for today. These are now my favorite sugar cookies ever! The boys delighted in them as well.... As if they were not already on a sugar high from the Vday parties that they had at school. Today's meals consisted of M&M's, cookies, nerds, suckers and cupcakes. I might as well have dumped straight sugar down their throats and been done with it.
Grant actually ate his supper tonight (which I'll be the first to admit was pretty nasty.....new recipie gone bad) in order to get this treat. He had a mouth full of dinner still and was begging for his cookie. I told him to swallow his other food to which he replied, " I have been but it just keeps coming back". Gross.

Mr. Rosy cheeks I'm positive has had his junk food fill. This is the one sneaking things out of the pantry and eating them in secret hiding places. I pried a random sucker from who knows where out of his mouth last night. I'm pretty sure he's probably got a stash concealed somewhere in his room. In fact, he's probably up in his bed eating something right now. It's no lie that a few months ago I found him in his crib eating an apple at 10pm..........Seriously? Seriously.

RRRRRRRRRUFFF!!

This is what walked in my door on Monday afternoon. A dalmation. Apparently they were celebrating the 101st day of school by doing 101 Dalmations. Kindergarten is the most partying grade I have ever heard of! Note the collar that says "Big Dog". I thought this was really cute. This may be one of those things that comes out at the rehersal dinner slide show.................

This is what it looks like.......

To be officially 4!! Grant picked this shirt out at Target and insisted that he get it to wear on his birthday.

We celebrated his birthday at the Jump Zone along with a request for an army man cake. This will be the second time an army man cake has made an appearance at a Morgan boy birthday and it probably won't be the last. Grant had tons of fun sliding and jumping and running with his buds.
The adults even got their fun on! This is Trac just before she blew Chris away on the obstacle course. Can't you see where Grant gets his mischief? And, just kidding, Chris. I know it was defeat by a narrow margin.
Grant got a Webkin from his cousins and it has been a permanant fixture on him ever since. He doesn't even know that you can do things on the computer with it yet. We haven't gotten that far. He named him "Sherman" and he has been everywhere from Lowes to Publix and to school today as his sleeping buddy. Both Cade and Rhett had a blast celebrating Grant's birthday, too. Being that every family in Spring Hill has a mandatory 2-3 plus kids, there are always enough playmates for everyone. No matter the age!
Here is the crew at the end of the party. I know this is a boy party but come on! We've got to get more girl power in this group! Happy Birthday, Grant! Hope you had fun!

And Reality Hits

My boy is growing up. It wasn't so long ago that he stated that he is a man and should therefore use the men's bathroom because he noticed he had hair on his arms. Then today, this short conversation. But first, a little background: Today is the 100th day of class for Kindergarteners. They were all suppose to dress as though they were 100 years old. I jokingly said that I should put Cade in a 3 piece suit and arrange a box around him because most of the people I know are dead and in a coffin at 100. I know there are those few people that Smucker's takes pictures of on the Today Show but other than that.......... Anyway, picture him in hiked up dress pants, white button up and a bow tie. He refused to wear the beard I bought and would not let me make his hair look grey. Right now you are probably picturing Steve Urkle because that's exactly who he looked like only white. He had to wear a belt to keep his pants hiked up so high and I said

" Cade, are you going to be able to go potty with that belt on?"

" I don't say that anymore, Mom."

"Say what?"

" Potty. That's SOOO Pre-K. It's 'use the restroom' ".

So Pre-K?????? I just cracked up. I mean, I've heard "that's so nineteen eighties" or whatever but I had no idea about this whole "so pre-k" thing. I guess from now on I'm going to have to get used to being "mom" instead of "mommy" and using more grown up words in conversing with my five and a half year old. Actually, I'm going to pull this one out and use it to my advantage the next time he cries over having to take a bath at night............ "Seriously. That is so Pre-K. Get in the tub."
