Conversation Piece

Grant: "See this?"

Me: "Oh. wow. Where did you get it?"

Grant: "I maked it. I maked it and I'm going to sell it to Jesus next time I see him."

Me: "Really? Hmmm."

Grant: " 'Cause next time I see him he's really gonna wanna buy it from me."


I found this to be a rather interesting conversation. I don't know what was more interestesting though. A) The fact that he thought he had anything Jesus would want to buy. B) The thought that Jesus BUYS things period. or C) The fact that he used "next time" twice as if he actually has face to face meetings with Jesus in his playroom or something.

I guess it could be happening..........I'm just sayin'...............

Bueno Vida

Ahhh..... The Good Life. Costa Rica treated us well this past week. We did a lot of just sitting on the beach reading, talking, and people watching. One of my favorite things to do. Our biggest laugh came on Friday when we were watching a marine seargent type black man run up and down the beach in his high-waisted speedo. Too funny. Even funnier was when he stopped to do push-ups and his behind was really high in the air. Kind of like an upside down "V"..........not the proper form (just fyi in case you were thinking of doing the same. Bobby would do the Rocky theme every time he passed by. Good times. We went on a Catamaran Sunset cruise on Wednesday. It was really beautiful and they fed us pineapples so that made me happy.

Wonderful to watch the sun set over the ocean. We were even followed by a group of dolphins for a long time. I could watch dolphins all day. They are so graceful.

My most favorite activity was the Zip Line Tour. We got to go on a total of 11. It was SO much fun. I pretty much already knew what I was doing since I watch so much "Go Diego, Go!" with the boys. I even screamed out a little "AYUDAME!!!" (Help Me! in spanish). Diego says it all the time. This is Bobby just coming in on one of the lines. I'm walking up a little hanging bridge thing to get to the top to take the next line. I will admit that the pulse was a bit more rapid than normal. By the time I got really used to it, it was over.
Just a quick view of the zip line. I'm on there somewhere if you look really closely. This particular one was half a mile long. The view was tremendous though. I loved this one. Costa Rica was very dry right now because the part of the country we were in was in the dry season. This is the last month of 6 that they will have no rain. It starts back up in June and then everything will be plush and green but they said that is their lowest tourist time due to the weather. We had such a great time and have come back renewed and refreshed. I was hoping to get to use a little more of my spanish while I was there but everyone on the resort spoke english! Bobby threw out a lot of "muy bueno".........everything was muy bueno. And I did use some of what I've learned. My only problem is that when confronted with a spanish speaker, I forget all I've learned and my pits just start sweating. Fortunately with the 100 degree weather and extreme humidity no one was the wiser.............

I took many more photos, but too many containing not enough clothing coverage for internet usage. Bobby wore loin cloths the whole time and I was in my bathing suit all week. You'll thank me later. Until next time.......................

P.S. He didn't really wear loin cloths but he threatened it.

Personal Mantra

I am not generally one to buy t-shirts with crazy phrases (usually they are not fit for wearing) but when I saw this one I had to get it for Rhett. I hear it at least once a day. Sometimes at random times during the day which provoke me to say to myself, "Wonder what he didn't do?? Is that something I'm going to come across later?"
The only thing that would have made this shirt the greatest thing ever was if it would have been the mantra word for word: "I didn't DID it". That would have been a classic.

Did You Say "Your MOTHER"??????

Yes. My MOTHER completed the FULL Country Music Marathon yesterday!! We are so proud of her. She had been getting up at 4 in the morning for months to run and train for this event. Don't think you have to start wearing a mumu and playing bridge when you are the grandmother to three grandkids!!! Start training for a marathon instead! This is her at mile 10, doing great with a smile on her face.
Tracie and Cade were there to cheer her on as well. Cade skipped his classmate's birthday party to be able to go and watch "grandma's race".
Mystery man in the rain suit (Dad, the trainer) was there to supply extra water, snacks, dry socks, encouragement and there was no telling what else was in that backpack. He was there at 5:30 in the morning to make sure he didn't miss her. That's true love my friends. This is mile 19 and she is still trucking and, in fact, she ran up this big hill without even thinking twice about it. We were all amazed.

Here are dad and Cade anxiously awaiting mom at the finish line. I'm not posting Dad's worried face picture but I should. He wore it almost all day.
Finally, here she came!! And look. 26 miles later she's still smiling!!! I'm sure it was forced because by this time I would have been all out of smiles. Great job, Mom!!!

How cute. One shout out to my good friend A.A. for completing the half marathon even though she wouldn't read this blog to save her life......

What'd He Say??

Litte GW, as we often call him, is.......well, let's just say that he marches to the beat of his own drum. He says some of the craziest things and picks up a LOT of what I say and then tries to use it later. So, in an effort not to forget this 10 years from now, I decided to compile a small list of random quotes and some examples of his newest thing: word misusage (my favorite). Mind you, these are only from the last week. A true list would be too long for this blog post. Here goes. " Mommy, you can't EVEN stop the Grant. You just can't do it." spoken shortly after a small squabble between us involving the backseat car window. I love how he used 'the' to make himself superhero-like.

"Mommy, you're not the king of God". While I appreciate the newsflash, this was in a random moment of quietness. I'm not sure what I had been doing to indicate that I did, in fact, believe that I had become God's king...

"I don't EVEN appreciate ANY of my toys that I have!" While this very well may be a true statement, it was spoken in a moment of haste and anger at the fact that we had left Academy Sports with no worthy toy for him to replace the toys at home that he apparently doesn't LIKE. LIKE being the word that he should have chosen.

"I didn't EVEN want to leave daddy's game. That makes me so nervous!" The correct word here would have been mad, upset, angry, sad..........take your pick. I'm sure he did correctly become nervous after I threatened him bodily harm if he didn't cut out the whining and such.

" I am so jealous of Rhett. He won't stop following me!" Maybe "sick and tired", or aggravated, but at this point in his life there is really nothing to be jealous about. He blatently admitted to me on this day that he had no idea what jealous even meant. It was then that I advised him that in the future he should probably abstain from using words to which he doesn't know the meaning. Tune in next week for an incorrect sentence using the word "abstain".

There. That is just a small sampling of the things I hear each day. It's a wonder I can even take it all in.

It Probably Isn't Normal....

for your husband to wear mule ears and sell t-shirts downtown every year. However, when you become a part of the Morgan Family, you must re-invent your idea of "normal" each April. Bobby's dad heads up the "Official Mule Day t-shirt" stand every year with the Tech Alumni group and they raise money for scholarships to incoming students. It's a good cause so cut us some slack before you laugh!

Cade got a kick out of wearing Bob's button hat for a minute. Rhett was a bit frightened at first. He had no memory of Mule Day's past. He was most scared at his Papa yelling, "MULE DAY!!! GETYERMULEDAY!!!" He buried his face and would hardly let it be seen for quite some time. Eventually he came to and was waving and telling Bobby which horses he wanted to take home. He is still holding on to his horse fascination.
Grant soaked it all in but was ready to go when he realized it really WAS a parade full of mules. Yes, I was enjoying myself at the parade. I even sported my very own official Mule Day fitted tee. ( It was free. Just a perk for being in the family.)Among the many weird things you may see at Mule Day, this is the one that caught my attention. I love how I captured the smoke blowing out of his nose. Priceless. Would you like to know what else is priceless??

Seeing sheep try to eat Mule doodie..... On the way to the parade Cade said, "Hey, you remember last year when the mules and horses poopooed on the road? That's what I remember about it." My response, "I'm pretty sure that can be said for each and every Mule Day, son." I'm so happy that next year his most fond memory will be not only how they poopooed everywhere but then how, oddly enough, the sheep ate it. Have mercy.

April Lessons

Today I will share some lessons the first day of April taught me. These are not lessons I asked to be taught nor do I ever wish to have to take a refresher course in them.

1: Pencil DOES eventually come off of a wall with soap, water, and elbow grease.

2: I do not have time to clean 5 walls consecutively.

3: Crayon does NOT come off the walls as eaisily but google has a lot of suggestions on remedying this problem should it happen to you.

4: I do not have the energy to attempt to remove crayon from rubbermaid containers.

5: Children forget lessons they have learned in the early afternoon by late afternoon.

6: Crayon comes out of upholstery fabric with a brown paper bag, iron, and Resolve carpet cleaner.

7: Hairspray makes a nice shiny stain on walls that does NOT clean up with soap, water, and elbow grease. Even if the grease is from delinquent child.

8: Sharpie comes off of hardwood with rubbing alcohol. Thank you again to my good friend Google. (This lesson was actually learned in late March but whose checking?)

9: When children are quiet, it's not always a good thing.

10: Anger trumps all desire to photograph.

Here's to lessons learned and to being the mother of 3 children who deserve some jail time. Some more that others..........but jail time nonetheless.
